This pack includes both a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (Genny). CAT Detector and Generator Kits are used to detect and avoid buried service utilities such as pipes, cables and drains. The signal generator enables locating of metal pipe work or disused cables, whilst the sonde is for use with non-metal pipe systems and drains. CAT Detector and Generator Kits are extremely effective and have the ability to detect up to 3m in depth. Additionally, CAT Detector and Generator Kits have audio visual detection alerts to help raise awareness and stop the operator from harming themselves or getting into any situations on site that are not safe. You could risk property damage, serious injury or even death if buried pipes and cables are not properly located before you begin digging.

The CAT is a handset that identifies the electromagnetic signals given off by buried cable and pipes, while the Genny boosts this ability to detect, by sending a specific signal along that utility. Together, they give a very accurate picture of buried utilities.
Identify the area where you expect to find underground utilities and check existing plans for utility routes. Apply a signal to the service you wish to locate using the Genny and use the CAT to detect this signal.
