Also known as Mag Drills, Magnetic Drills, and Rotabroaches, these tools have a powerful motor to drill holes in a variety of metal surfaces. The high-powered magnet base holds the drill in place which gives you accurate burr-free cutting without having to apply pressure. Used in many settings including Steel Fabrication, Welding Shops, Maintenance, and general Construction. This model is 50mm x 50mm which drills 50mm diameter holes, up to 50mm deep. It’s110V so please add a transformer if you need one. Please note this does not come with a cutter.

Do you need to use pilot drill bits with Magnetic drills?

Not usually, since the cutters are designed to start drilling directly into the workpiece without the need for a pilot hole. But if you are drilling on curved or uneven surfaces it can be helpful. Add a pilot rod to your basket if needed.

How do you clamp the magnet on ferrous material or magnetic material?

The magnet force depends on the condition of the substrate, which is reduced by paint, zinc/scale coatings and rust.
Also, the substrate must be magnetic, the clamping surface and the magnetic foot must be clean and grease-free, and the surface must be completely smooth and level.

How do you clamp the magnet on steel of low thickness?

When drilling in steel of low thickness, an additional steel plate (minimum dimensions 100 x 200 x 20 mm) must be placed under the workpiece. Secure the steel plate to prevent it from falling.
